Top Websites to Share Good Blog Posts
One of the best things about the Internet and how social it’s become, is the ability to share interesting content with multiple online communities. While some services like Ping.fm will automate most of these posting, i prefer to automate some of them with some WordPress plugins, and manually share others via a toolbar or the website directly. The main reasons are that i don’t always want all my blog posts to go everywhere, and i prefer the manual touch.
Top Automated Sharing Activities:
Sharing your blog posts to Twitter is a great way to get the word out and feed your followers with valuable stuff instead of posting your state of mind. A lot of plugins will automate this feature. For example, i use “Auto Twitter” which automates posting and integrates the fun.ly URL shortener.
Facebook Fan Page
A lot of plugins or addons are available to post automatically to your Facebook profile, but only some of them allow posting to your Fan page (which is what we want). I’ve been using the Networked Blogs application, but i will be testing posting from the Hootsuite platform in the next few days, as i’m not 100% sure about liking the Networked Blogs application and self branding it comes with.
Digg
Another easy to automate sharing network is Digg. After creating your account, you can import your RSS feed so that it pulls your articles automatically when a new blog post is added. A 5 minute task that can ultimately get you some pretty decent traffic.
RSS Feeds Directories
RSS directories have many benefits. It builds you backlinks on auto pilot, but other users can also find your feed and decide to publish your feed in their websites, which can get you some extra traffic and exposure.
My Manual Sharing Activities
Sharing my blog posts manually is still part of my activities. Although complete auto sharing can be interesting, for a blog network as an example, i believe manual sharing is better and more appropriate for some websites. These are my social sharing activities.
StumbleUpon
The StumbleUpon network is one that consistently delivers traffic. Every post i share gets some traffic, some a lot more then others. A great way to spread the word.
Since not all articles are meant for my LinkedIn profile or groups, i share manually there. Sharing your posts on LinkedIn will keep your readers in touch with you, and can deliver you some pretty high quality traffic, maybe the most powerful sharing platform for me and some clients of mine because of the visitor quality.
Delicious
Although Delicious is not as powerful as it once was, i still like to keep sharing to my Delicious account. It brings some visitors here and there, and i believe is still a good platform.
Reddit has become an authority website over the last few years. Although it does not deliver as much traffic as StumbleUpon and LinkedIn, Reddit is a must in your sharing setup
FriendFeed
A little newer to me is FriendFeed. After discussing with a friend of mine who’s getting some decent traffic from FriendFeed, i decided to give it a try. This platform might not apply to every type of business or website, but for some can be a nice addition.
In conclusion, social sharing should be an important part of your daily tasks. But remember, it all starts with creating interesting content and adding value to the community.
